Digimon Tri: Determination review

I know I am a bit late here to the party on this one guys but hay I review the entirety of Digimon Savers, and I also needed to have a review up on my birthday. Yes after like months of anticipation the 2^nd Digimon Tri movie is finally here and after the first one which was so awesome surly the 2^nd Tri movie will be nothing but awesomeness Right? Well it’s Meh really.

The movie begins with a battle between both Leomon and an Ogermon fighting while in the distance we see the Digimon Emperor smiling at this. And that is the whole first movie just those 2 fighting and a shot of Ken in his new Digimon emperor design. I mean what takes up most of this first movie is the team in a hot spring (because you’re not an anime if you don’t have an episode where you’re at the hot springs). But there are some things of note like humans making weapons to fight Digimon (which reminds me of Kuuga and Kuuga is my favorite Rider season), both Matt and Tai are arguing with one another as usual and it is because of Omegamon fusion breaking apart near the end of the battle which did happen in the movie. And finally both Maki and Daigo both knew each other since elementary school.

The 2^nd episode in this movie is where things do start to happen with Joe still at home doing his studies when that Ogermon comes to the human world and starts attacking. And then when Mimi has her Togemon accidently attacks a helicopter and the next day her school mates are talking behind her back and she says if you talk about a person then just say it to their face. And that is a life lesion that I honestly is a very good one to me. So because of that Mimi school mates are now calling her a Jikochu which means self-centric/ annoying. And now Mimi is just upset by the whole thing when she then meets up with Joe and she tells Joe what I just said and Joe tells her that is better than being a coward.

You see Joe for the whole time is just furious right now between being both a Digidestined and doing his best in school. THIS FALLS FLAT AT THE END BY THE WAY but I will explain why that is when I get to that since that also brings up something big I want to say to Tri as a whole. Also Leomon is from Adventure is now back is it just happens I mean it would have had been nice to see like a scene where like he meets up with Tai and then everyone else again but no just Tai and then everyone else. But yah it is nice to see Leomon back again even if he will just end up dying again (you don’t need me giving spoilers to know that will happen :P).

Part 3 starts and I sourta think it’s the worst part of this movie IF, and only if because of the animation. Up till this part the animation has been good so far and nice just like the first one but here though the animation while not bad but is very stilted. Like a bunch of shots of background charters just looking dead and are more stilted paintings than anything else and also this picture right here with Meiko’s arm band appearing and dis appearing. But now to the plot of this one Mimi says screw it I don’t give a shit what anyone thinks of me and goes ahead with her pain. You see early on she had an idea to have this place call Daters (which is basically just like Hooters) Open up at her school festival, her ideas were rejected but now does not give a crap and going along with her plains.  

Joe still doing his studies have no time for fighting anymore and Gomamon sees that and decides to leave to the tower where all the other Digimon are. That is also when Izzy gets an email saying “The 2 sides of the universe are like 2 sides of a coin. Those who desire power and must go beyond the Darkness, and Beyond". Maki then want’s Izzy to come to the school not that there is anything impotent but to let Izzy be a kid so she sends Izzy a picture in that costume and now Izzy wants some of that Mimi booty I WILL STOP NOW!

Part 4 is where I desperately need to talk about this because it has been bothering me for some time now and that is Joe because it is at this part with both Joe and Gomamon are talking and Joe does not like he is with the Digidestined again and he is struggling to become an adult and take school seriously and that he needs a reason to fight. And it is then Kari then tells him Adult or Chile it does not matter in the end. Your partner needs your help, so is that a god enough reason to fight? Now that is some good charter building of rather or not being an adult or child does not matter in the end for they are the Digidestined.

HOWEVER THIS IS JOE! And In Digimon 02 Joe was that an ADULT giving good advice to like Cody. So this brings up exactly why Joe would have trouble with being both a Digidestined and adult since it looked like he could do it just fine. It feels like they are just ignoring Digimon 02 ever happen. And this also brings up another problem with Tri as a whole which I will get into at the end of this review so keep this in mind for latter.

So now this is where the Digimon Emperor comes in and takes Meicoomon must say I very much love the re design of the Digimon Emperor I mean the original one looks like something that a kid would have had created which looks awesome to a kid but the Tri Ver. gives it a much needed design up date and looks like a much better. Also let’s recap shale we he kick puppies, step on flowers, and also steal kittens, Ken is a real asshole if you ask me (and then there is his shit eating grin which I will not get into this review). But yah he takes him through this I don’t know what this is like road to the Digital world where both Palmon, Leomon, and Gomamon go after him. Ken is a cheater though and busts out Imperialdramon in his Dragon mode and attack them and what is made worst Leomon is now an infected Digimon when he fought Ogermon from before.

All 3 look good as dead until Joe comes and will fight with Gomamon and that let Gomamon Digivolves which it is awesome seeing Ikkakumon Digivolve and it was even more awesome sing him Digivolve into ultimate which is a cool sequence, but less awesome seeing ultimate to Mega. I mean Digivolving from champion to Ultimate is cool with the Digivice changing colors to the personal user and having their crest be a part of the transformation sequence as well was awesome. But Ultimate to mega is lacking because it is just a gold ring and that’s all. Usually Digivolving sequences are amazing with being flashy and jaw dropping excitement and stuff like that but here just white backgrounds and gold rings. And what sucks also this is Toei Animation which are the kings of using Stock footage which means everyone else will likely as well have this same transformation sequence because that's Toei, what do you expect?

And it also made this final fight feel lack luster as hell with it taking FOREVER I mean Brave Hear played TWICE through the whole battle! I mean Warping Digivolving could have had solved all of the problems of the fight scene. I mean the PS2 Digimon Game did it and even a fan made Ver. that does not look all that bad. but on the pro side we finally see Vikemon in a anime and Rosemon in HD (which I really love since I love Savers to death, sadly I assume we will not get to see her in Burst mode in HD which sucks). Also did anyone else see when they attacked Imperialdramon both Rosemon and Vikemon are flickering repetitively I hope that is because they are slightly frozen and not because of computer animation problems.

Well any ways all 3 defeat Imperialdramon (which is more than fine with since while Imperialdramon says he is the toughest he is not in actually) and Ken just let Meicoomon go. Also Hackmon is this whole time just watching in the background. I would call him a Jack off but a cool rumor I here is that he is a scout for Alphamon and that explains why he is in his form, I mean he was their when Alphamon came in the first Tri Movie.

And when everything looks fine and all Meiko’s Digivice goes red and Black (coming to a Premium Bandai near you) and Meccomon goes from this cute little cat to this ferocious berserk mode and kills Leomon, oh my god they killed Leomon you… are joking right? I mean it is too soon to do something like that already in a Tri movie I mean he is the Nobel Lion Trope and all but already X Evolution gave Leomon more time and interactions. 

And then the movie ends with Meccomon going into a digital portal and also Maki smiling when Leomon dies. Also incited of the "I Wish" Remix we now got a great remix of "7", a song that I did not know about till I heard it in the Tri end credits and it's pretty amazing and you should listen to it to

Overall I give Digimon Tri Determination a 2/5

This was still fine and all but way too many missteps in the movie

I really loved the stuff with Mimi here coming out as a charter and accepting who she is and take no crap from no one was really great, and even the structure of this movie was better than the first one I will admit. Sadly that is almost all the good I can give with like Joe’s subplot in the show being more of a betrayal of his charter of who he was in 02. The animation was off as well through the whole film it could have had been more crisper if I am using that word right, and finally the worst sin of all this makes more questions than answer them. And now I want to talk about my major and biggest complaint with the movie, and here is my question “how much of Digimon did the writers see?” 

I do mean that, how much Digimon did the writers see? Because my friend pointed this out to me why like why is Meiko treated like the 9th Digidestined even though in 02  all the kids around the world get both Digimon and Digivices and aren’t like the Digidestined famous and well known by everyone and both Tai and Agumon are like ambassadors at the end of 02? And what about Azulongmon and Gennai, those 2 are very pivotal charters and would like alert the Digidestined at this point I mean if they are not in the next Tri movie or mention in the Next Tri movie then this will raise further questions? This movie is still OK but the more I pick it apart the more wrong I see let’s hope that come September the 3rd Tri movie is much better. And for now until like May or June I will be taking a bit of a vacation (more like work on finals than anything else) and will come back soon with a special review.

another new looks at Elizabeth Banks Rita Repulsa costume

Some time ago we got our first image of what Elizabeth Banks would look like as Rita Repulsa in the 2017 Power Rangers movie. Needless to say it was very mix with some liking it, hating it, and others (including myself) thinking it might be foreshadowing for the squeal with the Green Rangers. AND TODAY we have new Pictures of Elizabeth Banks as Rita in a different outfit. And it's SOMETHING! I can say that for sure.

this is an somewhat inserting design since this does make her look more like a witch sorceress, I use that in a very loose meaning because it looks like she is wearing a bunch or rags on her. And yah it's a more reviling suit as well with that open cleavage suit as well so, BOOBIES.

And even more for relating to that is a picture of her kissing our Pink Ranger for the film.

 

Now also we got an image of Rita's staff for the movie which is Loki's staff from the MCU movies just melted is all (and a slight bent to give it almost the looks like her original staff).

Now finally the last thing of note is a picture of our Red Ranger for the film, and i bring it up because while writing this post I just saw that the Rita stunt double has green hair in this new costume, I wounder what this could mean. 

I can already just like before this will be a mixed one with people hating it, loving it, ETC. or don't really care until they see ranger and monster suits. Now that's a good transition because there is word right now we will get our look at the suits once production release official images. But time can only tell when that will happen tho.

Digimon savers review part 4

The Charters

Marcus

I FREAKIN LOVE MARCUES DAMON! This guy is such a badass taking on Digimon having balls to do have the things he does, I mean this just is just great. And yet that is the reason people hate him in the first place is the fact that he does punch things in the first place since that is to outlandish and the Digimon well as an afterthought. But honestly I really like it a lot about him, because it meant that both him and Agumon are on the same footing as one another and are truly partners.

Another thing I also really like about Marcus is he is WHAT Right Suzuki AND Takaharu Igasaki should have been, I mean in the begin Marcus was a hot headed guy and only used brute force to solve his problems. But there is 1 difference between those 2 he grew as a charter, he was not still the dumb kid as before he was a smart fighter. Like with ShineGreymon and Ruin form he then needed to earn his power instead of borrowing it! I mean you can tell he did change and if some ones does do an idiot protagonist this is the best way to do it.

Agumon: The Savers Agumon is defiantly not like you grew up with in Adventure but rather this Agumon. He’s brash, selfish with food, and argues with Marcus a lot. But I really like that dynamic between the 2. In Adventure both of them were buddies from the start where here they both had to earn respect for one another. It is dynamic like that that makes me really appreciates this show more.

Thoma

Thoma was the 2^nd best charter and that is mostly due to him and his baggage with his family. When his parents were young and they first meet one another they were young and she was an exchange student and well you can probably assume what happened next. On his dad side his family did not like her as was glad she was dead and revolted even the sight of Thoma. But you know what the sad part is? His dad was positive for Thoma and cared for him but Thoma Grandmother did not and did not see him as a part of the Norstein family and she mad his dad revolt him as well. It was only during an attack by Digimon where he saved his sister did his dad finally admit he was more of a man then he was. Which that is beautiful to me.

Thoma was always the brains of the group for the show since he was young he had to go ahead and spend a lot of his time just studding all the time. But it worked out for him since he did have a very tactical way of fighting and it did work out a lot of times in the end. His Partner Gaomon is a lot of a yes master and always following Thoma orders to the very end no matter what because he knows what his master is doing.

Yoshi

Yoshi got the lease developed in the show and as such she just kinda sucked. It was implied she was good at like computers and stuff but I didn’t see it. Her back story was she had no self-confidence growing up as a kid and Lylmon helped her. But other than that she was just there, and is the token female of the group. Lylmon did little as well so moving onto Ikuto.

Ikuto

Ikuto had a good arc with his introduction which set up a lot more things latter on in the season. At child birth when he was sent into the Digital world and adopted by Digimon he thought he really was a Digimon. but when Kurata attacked all of the other Digimon stopped being around him and wanted nothing to do with him and some even going as far as to kill him at 1 point. Ikuto when we meet him as a normal kid was the same too hating humans and no one telling himself he was a human. Really he turned the other checked when he started to live with Marcus and saw his parents. And even more from Kurata and only then did he embrace he was a human and proms he would live as a human and have a soul of a Digimon. Falcomon just there for the most part but and was also a guide for Ikuto to help him to make the right choices in life.

The Music

It would not a true Digimon season without great music and Savers I can say did well with some good background music and an ear worm or 2. Most of the like background music had a techy and a few times a spy feel to it and the Burst mode instrumental theme is pretty solid. I admit I am not a big fan of the first opening of the show Gouing! Going! My Soul!! In my option it sounds like generic J Pop, I absolutely love Hirari, like A LOT. This is my 2nd favorite Digimon opening (Tri Butterfly is still the best opening ever). Even the American opening is pretty catchy, especially when it goes instrumental. Digital-Ranger Jukebox Recommendations go to worse Believer. 

Now this is to me the best Digimon insert song... OF ALL TIME! Where do I begin? After a somewhat long techno opening is out of the way of none stop awesomeness happens, when that guitar riff starts happens you know SHIT just got real. Then after that it escalates it serious time for action time. Then the guitar riff happens and you want to just bang your head pulse the quire is also awesome to listen to as well. And then at the end when the singer says Believer I just think about Marcus punching Kurata because again IT WAS THE BEST THING IN THE WHOLE SERIES. I can’t get enough of this song and I will continue to praise it till the end of time. And will listen to it about a million more times. 

The Good 

The Pasting

I love the Pasting in this show. I know in the past I’ve complained shows pasting before but I feel more grown up and mess judge them compare to now with my reviews (some that are not that bad but still some are still desirving of bad pasting I.E. last review). Things are slow in the begging but after episode 10 it is a none stop roller coaster till the end of the show with no stops in between.

The Escalation of the fighting

You know how in like Ninninger and even a bit in ToQGer simply saying it is powerful is enough to say it is powerful? Well not in this show they go bit by bit showing exactly how powerful something with Trial and error. I admit this is a more you need to see it to believe it but take my word on that.   

The 7 Great Demon Lords & The Royal Knights

It’s not often that we get something Digimon that involves both The Royal Knights and also the 7 Great Demon lords. I mean granted that changed with Cyber Sleuths but still it remains to be acknowledged. BUT Savers did something great here with having both the 7 Great Demon lords and Royal Knights. This is something that the hard core Digimon fans will appreciate since this has more Digimon Lore in it with these 2 factions. And both of these factions just made the show more awesome acknowledging them in this shows universe. 

The Burst modes

I gone over praising my love of the Burst modes already but it needs to be repeated they are awesome looking forms that add so much with doing so little all of them are just amazing looking. It is hard to say is my favorite. Wait no Shine Greymon Burst mode that is the best one. I mean the only crappy thing i can really say about the burst modes is that their were never toys of them. but since the normal Savers toy line was bad it was nice to see upgrades like these just just looks badass.

The Antagonists

Savers is a season that has dome of the best antagonist in a Digimon season and all of them were just great and memorable. Mercurymon was a guy who was actually to try and help humans and Digimon be tougher but because of Kurata stuff got out of hand and just did the things he did for his own kind. Kurata is just one of the most evilest Digimon villains and he is human which makes him so scary. I mean it is understandable where he is coming from continuously getting attack by Digimon I mean it would make sense why he would try and kill them, GOD DID IT FEEL GOOD WHEN HE WAS DEFEATED! And finally Yggdrasil was a great foe as well since he is just doing this for the good of his own kingdom and people. All the antagonist were very well rounded charters with goals and fit a Digimon season and were all great. compare to other Digimon antagonists who were they are evil for being the sake of evil,  something not even related to being Digimon at all, or just a total JACK OFF!

Episode 38 

Do I even need to repeat myself why this was an epic moment in the show? Because at this point all I can say left is that it is just amazing and I loved it and no other show I can think of made me fist pump in the air before.

MARCUS DAMON

People Hate Marcus Damon and they hate him even more then Davis (their is so much wrong with that i will not even get into it in this review) But I really do not care. I don’t care if people hate Marcus Damon, say him punching the Digimon is a stupid idea, I do not care if you think he sucks are brash or anything else, Marcus is just AWESOME! And honestly he reminds me a bit of Tai from Adventure. Think about it brash, bold, adventuresses, willing to do anything to defeat an enemy. It feels like he got some inspiration from Tai himself just more grownup and punch things. But regardless this is a charter that I love a lot and is just awesome! WOW that was a lot of good I listed in this show, is there any bad with this show? Well yes a few things.

The Bad 

The Bio-Hybrids

The Bio-Hybrids were JUST THEIR and that’s all, and I know I praise the ever living crap out of the antagonists before but these guys are just forgetful. I don’t remember any of their names or ninths they had because they were so boring.  

The Animation

This is more of a nitpick on my part but the animation for the show is lack luster. Don't get me wrong compare to a bunch of other shows (especially with recent shows from Toei) but it is really nothing special either. 

But at this point I am just looking for things to nitpick or say is a bad since when the animation was great it was fantastic!

Final Verdict

10/10

I FREAKING LOVE THIS SHOW IF YOU COULD NOT TELL ALREADY! 

WHICH is why I Digital-Ranger shale give Digimon Savers The Prodigious Award Seal of Approval! An award reserved for only the BEST OF THE BEST and must be seen by all.

Digimon Savers is a show that should be given more love and more people need to see it. The charters are all awesome, the show had some of the best antagonists in any Digimon show, and the Kurata Marcus battle was also really badass! I could continue why I love this show so very much. If you are wanting to get into Digimon this is a great place to start to get into the show, and if you are a long time veteran (like myself at 1 point) then you NEED TO WATCH THIS SHOW.

Now you might be thinking IS THIS YOUR FAVORITE DIGIMON SEASON EVER, MAYBE? I am being honest with you people now, I really need to go back again and sourta rereview some of the Digimon seasons I have done with thinking more like an adult now, but I will say this it is either this or Adventure that is my favorite Digimon season. So as of now yes I guess you can say this is my favorite Digimon season. Just because I finished Savers does not mean we are completely done with Digimon come back next week and I shale review Tri’s 2^nd movie, Oh by I hope this is as good as the first one and answers questions instead of asking more questions, no one dies a pointless death and Hackmon is not a jack off and does more nothing, RIGHT?

New Zyuohger scans 4-20-15

some now Zyuohger have just came today which means it is time to look at what new Toys will be out soon.

first something I did not cover before because A. I had stuff to do and B. the images before were to blurry, but better images of Cube Wolf & Cube Crocodile which can form both feet and a crotch peace. 

Now we start getting into the good stuff with Zyuoh TheWorld’s personal Mecha Tousai Zyuoh. Which is formed from the already said Cube Wolf & Cube Crocodile and also Cube Rhinos. Now that + the other 13 Cube Mechas that all tougher makes Wild Tousai King! AND IT'S… IT'S... SOMETHING! Yah that I feel is the best way to describe it, i mean it all tougher it JUST AN. NOW YOU MIGHT BE THINKING TO YOURSELF both Cube Wolf & Cube Crocodile holes make up the hands right, well no , if you look closer there are actual hands their, which are really, really, really small, I KNOW.

Now we got a 4th Auxiliary mechA Cube Koumori, Koumori is japinese for Bat (OR A PURPLE DRAGON) that can become a sword. Also our look at our summer exclusive Mecha Cube Condor which is a repaint/ remold of the torso of the main Mecha. And just like all modern Mecha after Goseiger like ever the summer exclusive Mecha is just more or less the chest Zord being repainted/ remolded and just feels incomplete when you have all the Mecha.   

Finally what I wanted to get into the first place with Zyuoh eagle having another power up which is a gun called the Whale ChargeGun transforming him into Zyuoh Whale. Zyuoh Whale looks like Proto Man from Mega Man. If you don't know me I FREAKIN LOVE MEGA MAN and this I JUST FANGASEM! AND THE FACT THAT WE HAVE A POWER RANGER THAT LOOKS LIKE PROTO MAN FROM MEGA MAN MY INNER FAN BOY GEEKED OUT! I AM REALLY EXCITED TO SEE Zyuoh Whale because I FREAKIN LOVE MEGA MAN!

Rita Repulsa in the Power Ranger's movie 2017 look

A few Days ago we got the new Power Rangers movie logo and today finally after what seems like a long time of waiting we finally got something design wise from the movie. This picture right here is Elizabeth Banks As Rita Repulsa and it looks more like Trakeena from Power Rangers Lost Galaxy. just by looking at this thing it looks more insect like then old witch sorceress. It's not a bad design Per Se but i would not call this Rita Reoulsa. But hay her design is green so does that mean she will not use purple energy, because lately Purple energy like always means evil! I will still keep an open mind for what's to come with this movie because if the acting and writing is good taht is really what matters in the end.

Shin Godzilla suit reviled in Shin Godzilla movie Trailer

With the new Godzilla Trailer being release a few days ago (which you can see here) we got the look of the new Godzilla full suit in this movie and the suit it self is very awesome. The Design of this Godzilla suite is like a decaying Zombie Godzilla (and I really never got the appeal of Zombies, even before they became popular). Now originally i was going to go a head and do a reaction/ analyses of the trailer but on my rewatch before writing this blog post really it is just Godzilla wrecking stuff as always and human charters being human charters, SO nothing new their. but what i will say is awesome is that this music that is playing is so awesome. I mean it sounds like the end of time are coming, D day is finally commencing and all is doom. This movie comes out July but no word on a American release what so ever but maybe a U.S. release of the movie on a DVD/ Blu Ray could do it.

Super Sentai Artisan Kakuranger's Doron Changer

With the release the Super Sentai Artisan Dino Buckler from Zyuranger the next one in the Super Sentai Artisan is the Doron Changer Kakuranger (and for some reason the Aura Changers were spiked WOUNDER WHY THAT IS).  However the Doron Changer here will be in very limited supplies with it only being 6,000 units, so get this as soon as possible if you can or else it looks like you will never have a chance to get them again. The set is also priced at 10,584 Yen or $100.00 basically and will be release in September of this year.
